The strategy has included extensive market research with stakeholders
to find out what they wanted from their catering service. The strategy
was based on the research findings and has included improved communications,
developing the promotion of healthy eating, working closely with Healthy
School Status Co-ordinators, making a link between the kitchen and the
classroom and recognising the achievements of staff. This has meant
that meal numbers have been maintained while they have been decreasing
nationally. Also, the team won the overall 2006 Customer Service
Award in the authority.
