Local marketing agency is nominated for two prestigious web awards

web awards0822nd October 2008

AVF Marketing, based in Northallerton, has been nominated for two, national website awards run by Caterersearch.com for the website www.myschoollunch.co.uk.  The competition was open for websites in the Hotel and Catering Industry and the two categories are Foodservice and Innovation/Interactive Feature.  The website has 26 local authorities taking part and they are all promoting their school meals service to pupils, parents, teachers and governors.  There is a funfair of educational games that teach children in Key Stages One and Two of the National Curriculum about healthy lifestyles.  And information about the catering service targeted at parents plus lesson plans and worksheets for teachers.

Arnold Fewell, Managing Director AVF Marketing, said, “We are delighted to be nominated, we hoped for one category short listing but two is just brilliant.  Readers of Caterer and Hotelkeeper will now vote online for the best website of the year from all the categories.  This includes hotel groups, suppliers, restaurants and recruitment specialists.  www.myschoollunch.co.uk and our other websites targeted at promoting healthy lifestyles have nearly 70,000 visitors per month and in some areas they have a return rate of nearly 50%.  This is a fantastic achievement and one we are very proud of.  We are a family business and it is a joint effort by my wife Lynn and two of my daughters, Karen and Nicola.  We will all be keeping our fingers crossed for the announcement in November”.

One of the authorities that uses the website is North Yorkshire County Council and Keith Tillbrook, general manager, said, “We are very pleased with www.myschoollunch.co.uk/northyorkshire because it enables us to keep our customers fully informed of the service we are providing.  This includes how we promote healthy eating with our school meals mascot Herbie the Carrot, the menus we offer and how parents can contact us.  The funfair of games is extra special and I know many parents spend hours on end playing the games with their children.  They are very entertaining and children learn as they play, I would recommend them to anyone”.

The awards reflect the tremendous growth of the Internet as a tool for business, the Caterersearch.com Web Awards honour the best websites in hospitality across 12 categories.  They were judged on criteria including visual design, innovation, content, interactivity, ease of use, commercial success or potential and overall user experience.
