Blogs, pods and pasta salads please!
Monday, 13th November, 2006
Barely a week goes by without school meals hitting the headlines. Jamie Oliver, takeaways through the school gates and the huge drop in meal numbers have all been hot topics over the last few months.
But in January school meals will really be hitting the headlines when catering experts from around the country meet at a school meals conference.
Arnold Fewell, managing director at AVF Marketing Ltd and winner of the LACA Outstanding Contribution Award in 2005 is talking at the 5th Annual Healthy School Meals Conference (www.centaurconferences.co.uk/hsm.ashx) which is being organised by Marketing Week.
The aim of Arnold’s session is to discuss winning kid’s approval and overcoming their negative perceptions. Arnold’s presentation is called ‘Blogs, pods and pasta salad please’ which looks at using the internet as a key part of your marketing strategy.
In his session Arnold will discuss why the Secondary School market is so hard to crack; using role models to get the message across and he will give examples from www.myschoollunch.co.uk and his new website www.yougo4it.co.uk which launches in January 2007.
Arnold Fewell has 20 years experience in school meals starting at North Yorkshire County Council in 1985 where he was the first person in the country to bring commercial marketing techniques into the school meals sector. He created Herbie the carrot, the first school meals mascot in the country which won many awards including a Catey which are known as the Oscars of the Catering Industry.
Arnold said: “I am looking forward to speaking at the Marketing Week Conference and helping others understand how we can get the right messages across to Secondary students. It is a very sophisticated and specialist market but with the right tools I believe it is possible to change teenagers perceptions of school meals including the new healthy options. Our new website www.yougo4it.co.uk launches in January so it seemed fitting to bring this into the conference as the aim of the new site is to educate teenagers about healthy eating though the use of blogs, pods and sporting stars as role models.”
Those wishing to hear Arnold’s presentation can book online at www.centaurconference.co.uk/hsm.ashx, call 020 7970 4770 or email enquiries@marketingweekconferences.com
